All local government authorities are now facing the e-government challenge of actively engaging with citizens and their communities through electronic service. Defining all the transactions between local government and the citizen that can be delivered electronically is a task too extensive for this document.
However one of the most fundamental transactions is providing information to and from all areas of the community.
As demonstrated with MKWeb, Portal Constructor provides a revolutionary way to handle information by allowing content to be created directly from the information owners. This information flow also provides a means of consultation and access to community, professional and business networks.
Open Site
The first requirement is an open site with accurate, relevant and up to date content. Portal Constructor's methodology and software will enable such a site to be produced efficiently and quickly.
Public Contribution
One large element of Engagement is the ability to allow the public to 'have their say'. This is enabled through the forums and the ability to contribute content and respond to articles and ideas published on the website.
Access to Information
The searches, access to libraries of documents, and articles all give the user the widest possible selection of information to choose from, quickly found and easily delivered
