North West Leicestershire District Council choose Portal Constructor |

 North West District Council have chosen Portal Constructor to power their new community facing web site as a key component of their e-gov agenda implimentation.
To quote from their press release:
�NEW website for people who live, work or play in North West Leicestershire is to be launched on Monday 15th April.
Information on www.nwleics.gov.uk will include sections on Sport & Leisure, Tourism, What`s On and Business, plus details on services provided by the District Council and a special area for the younger generation - Kidzone.
The site, which has been developed by the District Council in association with Milton Keynes-based Apollo Digital Media, will help the authority meet the Government`s target for all services to be available electronically by 2005 - known as E-Government.
Malcolm Diaper, Chief Executive of North West Leicestershire District Council and the authority`s lead officer for E-Government, said: "The demands of E-Government made it essential that we had a new website that we can continue to develop up to 2005.
"A lot of work has gone into its launch over the past few months but this is just the start. One of the great benefits of the system we are using is that the public can contribute to the site in many ways.
"We will also be offering local people, clubs and organisations an opportunity to develop their own areas of the site so it has a real community feel."
Apollo Digital Media specialises in providing software to local authorities and its longest running Portal is www.MKWeb.co.uk. It is supported by a number of local community partners including Milton Keynes Council.
This is one of the largest community sites in the country with more than 1,000 contributors, 10,000 articles and delivers around 500,000 pages a month to the Milton Keynes community.
John Bohn from Apollo Digital Media said: "We were delighted to be chosen by North West Leicestershire District Council to provide the software for the new site, and the enthusiasm of the council`s staff means a content rich site has been produced in record time."
