We want to know what you think...

Review of Consulation Strategy
Consultation is a regular and crucial part of the council's work. It is recognised that in order to provide good quality services and deliver them well you must involve the community and let them actively participate in the decision making process.

To ensure that the consulation undertaken by the council is effective, and in order to deliver services that meet the needs of the whole community, the council has produced a consultation strategy and tool-kit.

The strategy provides a long-term vision to improve the way that consultation is undertaken.

**This document will be available after 17th January 2006**

The toolkit has been designed to guide users through the process of carrying out consultation. It offers advice and ideas on how to consult with people in the best way, to get the best results.

Current Consultation procedures
Milton Keynes Council wishes to listen to your views on many different issues. By talking to you and taking on board your views the council is involving people in the way it delivers its services.

Consultation gives you the chance to let us know what you think about particular issues, what your concerns are and what your needs are.

Consultation helps the council to carry out its work better. It:

· Helps us to plan and deliver better quality services
· Helps us to discover what we need to improve and what our priorities should be
· Helps us to make sure our services focus upon what people need
· Helps us to have a good relationship between the council and the people who use its services
· Helps us to show people that we are committed to being open and accountable
· Helps us to make sure that the standards we set to judge our performance are relevant to people's
needs

A key part of consultation is letting people know how their views have influenced the way the council works. We will make every effort to feedback to the people that we consulted, telling them what decisions or changes have been made.
